And we ran with the Salmon again – this year involving several hundred people in this ritual of river, fish and community marking the extraordinary creatures who underpin the culture and ecology of our river and their critically endangered status. I curated Salmon Run: The Gathering at Sideshore in Exmouth involving Bournemouth Symphone Orchestra outreach, Thelma Hulbert Gallery, Kathy Hinde (sound artist), Etienne Stott (Olympian and eco activist) and Toby Diggens (river restoration). I created a new podcast which focused on Human and Salmon bodies and how they move through and sense shared and different world’s. Exploring what happens in the moving body as we run, our senses and navigation, the importance of salt, temperature in a changing climate and how we experience journeying. Anna Sturrock, aquatic ecologist and senior lecturer at the University of Essex hosted me in her department and introduced me to other academics in the Uni who took part in the podcast (thanks Anna!) The podcast includes the words of fisheries scientists, ultra runners, sports scientists and an evolutionary biologist. You can listen here
